Taipei to Host 2026 International Music Festival and Youth Dance Championship

Taipei City announced the launch of the 2026 "TRENDY TAIPEI" music festival, scheduled for 22 August to 6 September. The event will span 16 days, feature more than 290 domestic and overseas music groups and host over 159 performances across venues such as the Taipei Pop Music Center, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the arena and metro stations. City Mayor Jiang Wan‑an, Cultural Affairs Director Cai Shiping and Taipei Pop Music Center Chairman Liang Xulun highlighted the festival’s aim to position Taipei as a leading Asian pop‑music hub.

Separately, the 2026 World Youth Standard Dance Championships will take place on 9 August at the Taipei Arena. The competition, supported by the Ministry of Sports and the Taipei City Sports Bureau, will bring roughly 300 dancers from 18 countries to compete in ten WDO‑sanctioned categories. Organisers Chen Weijuan and Liu Shunyi emphasized the event’s role in showcasing Taiwan’s dance talent on the global stage, with sponsorship from Zeiss Taiwan and other partners.

Both events reflect Taipei’s broader strategy to attract international cultural audiences and boost the city’s creative‑industry profile in 2026.
