Taiping hosts Perak State Morse Code Challenge 2026

The Perak State Morse Code Challenge 2026 was recently held at the Telekom Malaysia (TM) Complex in Taiping. Organized jointly by Yayasan TM and the Taiping Telegraph Museum, the event brought together 120 students from 30 secondary schools across the state.

Nor Fadhilah Mohd Ali, Group Chief Corporate Officer of TM, stated that the challenge aims to connect the younger generation with the technological heritage that served as the starting point for telecommunications development in Malaysia. The competition highlights the historical significance of Morse Code, which was used in Malaysia as early as 1874 when the first telegraph line was built between Kuala Kangsar and Taiping.
