Taisei Marukawa undergoes naturalization process for Indonesia

Japanese winger Taisei Marukawa is undergoing the naturalization process to become an Indonesian citizen. Having lived and played in Indonesia for five consecutive years, Marukawa meets the residency requirements for citizenship application.

Marukawa, who currently plays for Dewa United, arrived in Indonesia during the 2021-2022 season to play for Persebaya Surabaya. He subsequently played for PSIS Semarang before joining his current club. Dewa United President Ardian Satya Negara has expressed full support for the process, noting that Marukawa has integrated well into the local culture and is capable of communicating confidently in Indonesian.

If the naturalization is successful, Marukawa will be registered as a local player in domestic competitions and may become an option for the Indonesian national team.
