Taitung hosts multicultural BBQ for migrant workers
The Taitung County Government Social Affairs Department hosted the ‘115th Migrant BBQ’ event at Zhiben East Tour Season to promote cultural exchange and inclusive working environments. The event brought together nearly 100 participants, including migrant workers, employers, and private employment service agencies.
Timed around the Mid-Autumn Festival, the gathering combined traditional Taiwanese barbecue culture with legal awareness sessions regarding employment services. The initiative aims to foster mutual understanding between local employers and migrant workers, who provide essential support to Taitung’s caregiving and industrial sectors.
Authorities also utilized the event to remind employers of the Employment Service Act, emphasizing that illegal employment or assigning unauthorized tasks can result in fines ranging from NT$150,000 to NT$750,000. The county government expressed its commitment to continuing multicultural exchange activities to help migrant workers integrate into local life.
