Taiwan and China implement stricter safety certifications for charging piles and power banks

Regulatory authorities in Taiwan and China are implementing stricter safety certification standards for electrical consumer products.

In Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Standard Bureau has introduced mandatory product inspections for small household charging piles under 30kW, effective July 1. This policy aims to ensure safety and measurement accuracy in residential settings. The scope is expected to expand to charging piles under 750kW by 2028. Additionally, charging piles used for commercial transactions must undergo metrological verification to ensure accurate billing.

In China, the State Administration for Market Regulation has released the first batch of 32 3C certification certificates under new implementation rules for mobile power banks and lithium-ion batteries. The updated rules incorporate new national safety standards, emphasizing testing for risks such as crushing and puncture. All mobile power banks sold from April 1, 2027, must comply with these enhanced safety and labeling requirements.
