Taiwan and Paraguay collaborate on AI and digital infrastructure
The third edition of the Taiwan-Paraguay Technology Forum focused on the application of artificial intelligence to boost productivity. During the event, Paraguayan President Santiago Peña highlighted the importance of developing domestic capabilities to transform technological advancements into quality employment and new economic opportunities.
A central component of this cooperation is the development of sovereign AI infrastructure, including projects such as 'Yguazú Digital' and 'Nuevo Azul Digital.' These initiatives aim to establish high-performance computing centers and regional-scale platforms by combining Paraguay’s clean energy resources with Taiwanese expertise in semiconductors, innovation, and digitalization.
To support this digital transformation, officials emphasized the need for specialized human capital. Cooperation between the two nations includes training young professionals in AI-related fields through the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP), focusing on research, cybersecurity, and data protection to ensure a robust technological ecosystem.
