Taiwan and South Korea to face off in U18 baseball pitcher duel

The U18 Asian Baseball Championship will open with a high-stakes matchup between Chinese Taipei and South Korea. Both teams have confirmed their starting pitchers for the opening game, setting the stage for a duel between two elite left-handed pitchers.

Chinese Taipei will start Liu Ren-you, a pitcher capable of reaching speeds up to 153 km/h. South Korea has countered with Ha Hyeon-seung, a highly touted prospect with a season ERA of 0.39 and a top speed of 153 km/h. Both players have previous experience facing each other in international competition.

South Korean manager Jung Younjin noted the importance of the preliminary round, as the result will influence seeding for the Super Round. During practice sessions at Tianmu Baseball Stadium, South Korean batters utilized left-handed pitching drills, which Chinese Taipei manager Yang Hsiao-cheng observed appeared to simulate Liu Ren-you’s delivery.
