Taiwan approves US stock margin trading via sub-brokerage

Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) has approved the implementation of margin trading for US stocks through sub-brokerage services. The new regulation is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2027 and will cover approximately 930 US stocks and ETFs, including components of the Dow Jones, Nasdaq 100, and S&P 500. The margin limit is set at 50%, and the maintenance margin requirement is established at 160% to mitigate risks associated with market volatility and time zone differences.

Separately, Yuanta Securities has launched a promotional campaign titled ‘Find 50 Experts’ to encourage ETF investment. This follows reports from the Taiwan Stock Exchange showing that the Yuanta Taiwan 50 ETF (0050) has maintained over one million periodic fixed investment accounts, reflecting a growing trend in long-term asset allocation among domestic investors.
