Taiwan authorities intensify enforcement of unpaid fines and taxes

Authorities in Taiwan are intensifying enforcement actions against individuals and businesses failing to pay traffic fines, vehicle taxes, and social insurance premiums.

In Taipei, the Administrative Enforcement Agency successfully recovered over 410,000 TWD from a man who had accumulated 798 unpaid fines and taxes since 2022. After the agency issued multiple wage garnishment orders to his employer, a vehicle manufacturer, the individual opted to pay the full amount to protect his professional reputation and career prospects.

In Taoyuan, enforcement officers utilized a real-time vehicle notification system to seize a small truck belonging to an auto detailing business. The owner had failed to pay approximately 148,000 TWD in vehicle taxes, health insurance, and labor insurance premiums. Following the seizure, the owner entered into a monthly installment plan to recover the vehicle.
