Taiwan aviation fees rise with increased airport, fuel, and baggage costs

Travelers departing from Taiwan face rising costs due to several increases in aviation-related fees starting in September. Airport service fees will rise from 500 TWD to 750 TWD for tickets issued or modified on or after September 1.

Fuel surcharges for international flights are also increasing. Starting September 7, short-haul surcharges will rise from 30 USD to 32.5 USD, while long-haul surcharges will increase from 78 USD to 84.5 USD.

Major airlines are implementing various fee adjustments:

• EVA Air: Implementing a new international excess baggage policy on September 29, with fees increasing by 20 to 90 USD per piece depending on the region. • Starlux Airlines: Implementing a new three-region pricing structure for excess baggage starting September 1. • China Airlines: Previously increased international booking service fees in July. • Tigerair Taiwan: Adjusting booking service fees as of September 1 and offering paid premium check-in services.

Passengers are advised to check specific airline policies and consider pre-purchasing excess baggage to take advantage of potential discounts.
