Taiwan celebrates National Heritage Day 2026 with cultural expos and restoration workshops

The 2026 National Heritage Day celebrations are set to take place across Taiwan, featuring major events at the Ministry of Culture's Cultural Heritage Park in Taichung from September 19 to 20. Under the theme “We All Live in the Heritage of the Future,” the main venue will host a National Cultural Heritage Action Expo, showcasing preservation, restoration, and revitalization efforts from various local governments and organizations.

Highlights include cross-disciplinary performances, such as a collaboration between Hakka Eight Tones and street dance, as well as traditional puppet shows and DJ remixes. Interactive activities like craft workshops, markets, and stamp rallies are also planned to engage the public with cultural history.

In Yunlin County, the “I’M FIND” series of activities for National Heritage Day includes specialized workshops focused on architectural restoration. One session at the Beigang Zhen'an Temple allows participants to observe the professional restoration of traditional painted murals. Another session at the Beigang Registration Office focuses on the professional methodology of surveying and preserving historical building spaces, emphasizing the importance of balancing historical integrity with contemporary use.
