Taiwan choirs travel to Sweden for World Choir Games

The Ni‑bun Choir and the Baolai Middle School choir from Kaohsiung will depart for Sweden on August 4 to compete in the 14th World Choir Games, which run from August 4 to 19. Ahead of the trip, the groups performed a warm‑up concert at National Dong Hwa University and a pre‑festival concert at the Weiwuying Arts Center, showcasing a repertoire that includes indigenous, Hakka, Minnan and international pieces.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi‑maï and legislator Chiu Yi‑ying attended the preparation concerts, offered encouragement, and photographed with the singers. The choirs have a record of success in previous international competitions, winning gold medals in South Africa (2018), Korea (2023), New Zealand (2024) and Tokyo (2025). Their upcoming participation aims to bring greater recognition to Taiwan’s regional culture on the global stage.
