Taiwan Culture Ministry Boosts National Film Exposure at Penghu Screenings and LA Documentary Festival
From July 30 to August 2, the Ministry of Culture’s National Tainan Living Aesthetic Museum organized the “2026 Firefly Cinema” tour in Penghu, staging four free screenings of Taiwanese films in the islands’ community centers. The program featured a documentary about marine life and a family‑drama, invited local artists and cultural officials, and aimed to strengthen community ties and promote domestic cinema.
At the same time, Taiwanese documentaries were highlighted at the Getting Real ’26 festival in Los Angeles, hosted by the International Documentary Association. From July 20‑23, a special Taiwan documentary program screened works such as “Gray Area,” accompanied by industry forums, a marketplace expo, and discussions on streaming, AI tools, and cross‑border co‑production. The Taiwan Book Institute in Los Angeles and film‑industry groups like Giloo and CNEX facilitated the events, underscoring Taiwan’s effort to reach international audiences and markets.
