Taiwan-Czech delegation explores smart healthcare and proton therapy in Prague

The Commercial Development Research Institute (CDRI) led the ‘2026 Taiwan-Czech Smart Healthcare Matchmaking Delegation’ to Prague, Czech Republic, to explore cooperation in smart and precision medicine. The delegation visited the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Czech Republic and the Proton Therapy Center Prague to study international medical service models and operational management.

At the Proton Therapy Center Prague, the delegation observed how artificial intelligence is utilized in clinical decision-making. The center reported that AI integration has reduced certain data interpretation and assessment tasks from approximately two to three hours down to about five minutes. The center currently treats roughly 150 patients daily from over 60 countries.

Mackay Memorial Hospital, a participant in the delegation, is using the visit to gather practical experience for its own planned proton therapy center. The hospital aims to focus on equipment selection, clinical workflows, staff training, and operational management. The collaboration seeks to bridge Taiwan’s strengths in semiconductors, ICT, and AI with the Czech Republic’s expertise in medical research and precision engineering.
