Taiwan Dementia Association launches exhibition and new care initiatives
The Taiwan Dementia Association has launched the ‘Tomorrow’s Memo’ exhibition at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, running from September 18 to September 21. Aligning with the Alzheimer’s Disease International theme, ‘The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do,’ the event emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis to secure better treatment and support resources.
In response to the rising prevalence of dementia, the exhibition highlights the ability of individuals to maintain independence and employment through structured support. The association also provides a national care hotline that handles between 8,000 and 9,000 inquiries annually. In Taipei alone, the number of people living with dementia has reached approximately 49,000.
Additionally, the Ministry of Health and Welfare Taoyuan Hospital has inaugurated the ‘Yi Nuan Home’ integrated dementia care ward. This facility is designed to address the complex needs of elderly patients experiencing Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), providing a multidisciplinary approach that combines mental health, physical disease management, and family support.
