Taiwan department stores adjust hours due to Typhoon Pepito
Due to the impact of Typhoon Pepito, numerous department stores and shopping centers across Taiwan have announced adjusted operating hours for October 24.
In northern Taiwan, many major retailers are delaying their openings. Shinkong Mitsukoshi locations north of Taoyuan, including several Taipei branches and the Taoyuan Station branch, will open at 2:00 PM. Far Eastern SOGO branches in Taipei, Zhongli, and Hsinchu are also scheduled to open at 2:00 PM. Taipei 101, including its shopping center and observatory, will begin operations at 2:00 PM. Other retailers such as Citylink, Dream Plaza, and various Mitsui Outlet Park locations are also delaying openings until either 1:00 PM or 2:00 PM.
In contrast, many facilities in central and southern Taiwan remain unaffected. Department stores in Taichung, such as Mitsui LaLaport, Zhongyou, and Far Eastern Department Store, as well as several locations in Tainan and Kaohsiung, are maintaining normal operating hours.
Retailers have advised customers to check official announcements before visiting, as operating schedules may change based on evolving weather conditions.
