Taiwan Design Show opens in Taoyuan to showcase urban innovation

The 2026 Taiwan Design Show has officially opened in Taoyuan, themed ‘Taoyuan Flow.’ The exhibition, which runs from September 24 to October 11, features over 770 designers and 1,630 companies. The event is divided into two main areas: the Qingpu district, focusing on industrial innovation, sustainable design, and urban governance, and the Zhongli district, highlighting multiculturalism and youth creativity.

Taoyuan Mayor Chang Shan-cheng attended the opening ceremony, which included representatives from 12 diplomatic missions and six allied cities. During the event, Mayor Chang highlighted Taoyuan’s rapid growth and its status as a global hub for AI server production. The exhibition aims to showcase the city’s transition from an industrial powerhouse to a center of aesthetic and cultural strength through urban regeneration and design-led governance.

International delegates, including the Mayor of Celina, Texas, and representatives from several Japanese cities such as Kaga, Tsukuba Mirai, Chiba, Kagawa, and Narita, participated in exchange sessions. Discussions focused on infrastructure, urban design, and agricultural technology. The event includes five satellite exhibition areas, 22 design-related activities, and various shuttle services to facilitate exploration of the city’s design landscape.
