Taiwan repels 16 Chinese vessels and detects PLA aircraft near territory

Taiwan's military and coast guard have reported increased maritime and aerial pressure from China. The Taiwan Coast Guard successfully drove away 16 Chinese vessels, including coastguard, research, and fishing boats, which were engaged in coordinated 'maritime harassment' operations around the main island and Pratas Island. Authorities described these simultaneous operations as 'hybrid warfare' intended to alter the status quo.

Additionally, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reported that Chinese military aircraft and naval vessels have been operating in the vicinity of the island. Specifically, two People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft sorties and five People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels were detected, with the aircraft sorties crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entering Taiwan's Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). In response, Taiwanese forces have deployed joint combat air patrols, naval ships, and land-based missile systems to monitor and track the activity.
