Taiwan detects Chinese naval and official vessels near its waters

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) reported the detection of three Chinese naval vessels and seven official ships operating in the waters surrounding Taiwan as of 6 a.m. local time on Thursday. The Republic of China (ROC) Armed Forces have maintained close surveillance and deployed assets in response to these maritime activities.

During this specific 24-hour tracking window, the ministry noted that no Chinese military aircraft were detected operating in the vicinity of the island. This follows a separate incident earlier in the week when the MND detected five Chinese military aircraft, six naval vessels, and nine official ships, including aircraft that crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
