Taiwan ETF market sees record regular savings inflows and dividend distributions

Taiwanese retail investors, often referred to as the ‘fourth legal person,’ showed significant engagement in the ETF market during August. Data from the Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Association indicates that regular savings plans for the Yuanta Taiwan 50 (0050) and Yuanta High Dividend ETF (0056) reached record highs. The 0050 ETF saw monthly deductions exceeding NT$13 billion with 1.28 million accounts, while 0056 saw deductions of NT$2.39 billion.

Total monthly ETF regular savings deductions in the market reached NT$36.8 billion, the second highest in history. This trend highlights a shift from active trading toward long-term asset allocation.

Additionally, 25 Taiwan-listed ETFs are scheduled for dividend distributions between September 14 and 18, affecting over 3.96 million beneficiaries. Among these, the Capital Group Taiwan High Dividend ETF (00919) has shown strong performance, with a recent one-month gain of 6.25% and a consistent annual dividend yield exceeding 10%. Experts suggest that when selecting high-dividend ETFs, investors should consider not only the yield but also the fund's ability to recover its price after distribution.
