Taiwan ETF market shifts toward AI and high-dividend semiconductor funds
The Taiwan ETF market is undergoing significant shifts driven by the AI boom and high-dividend demand. Yuanta Securities Investment Trust has announced that its flagship technology ETF, 0053, will rename to ‘Yuanta Technology Market Value’ starting October 12. This change reflects the fund's evolution from pure electronics to a broader technology focus, including AI-related giants like TSMC and MediaTek. Additionally, 0053 will transition to a non-dividend-paying model, accumulating all corporate dividends into its net asset value to promote long-term compounding.
In the high-dividend sector, 21 ETFs are scheduled to distribute dividends this week, totaling approximately 42.2 billion TWD to over 4.17 million beneficiaries. The 00919 ETF is leading this distribution with 20.785 billion TWD.
Market analysts note that while the Taiwan stock market faces high-level volatility, high-dividend ETFs and semiconductor-focused funds, such as 00927, remain attractive. These funds benefit from the robust growth in the semiconductor supply chain, driven by advanced AI packaging and wafer fabrication demands, which are expected to maintain double-digit quarterly growth through the fourth quarter.
