Taiwan Examination Center Bans AI Glasses, Cancels Student’s Qualification

The National Examination Center (大考中心) announced that a candidate who wore an AI‑enabled smart glasses during the university entrance exam was found to have violated exam rules. The examination committee deemed the act a serious breach of fairness and revoked the student’s qualification for the test.

The Center also said the 2027 (academic year 116) exam regulations will be revised to list smart glasses separately from other prohibited electronic wearables. Under the proposed rule, any wearing or carrying of AI glasses—whether used or not—will be treated as cheating and the corresponding section will receive no score. The change follows the first use of metal detectors at the test venue, which uncovered the smart glasses during a physical‑science exam. The Center reported a total of 111 rule violations this year, with missing identification documents being the most common.

The amendment aims to address the growing risk of electronic cheating devices, and officials indicated that signal‑blocking equipment may also be considered for future exams.
