Taiwan expands pet welfare through registration incentives and new urban facilities

Taiwan is expanding pet-friendly initiatives through national incentives and local infrastructure developments. The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a campaign to encourage pet registration, offering 30,000 vouchers worth 300 TWD each and 100 medical check-up packages valued at 3,000 TWD. The program aims to ensure accurate owner contact information for lost pets and fulfill legal requirements under the Animal Protection Act.

In Taichung City, Mayor Lu Shiow-yen announced significant upgrades to pet-friendly urban spaces. The city expects to reach 36 pet parks by the end of the year, the highest number in the country. Additionally, the city is developing Taiwan’s first public pet memorial park in the Dajia District, which is scheduled to open in November. This facility will provide cremation services and funeral halls to offer dignified end-of-life care for pets.
