Taiwan Fertilizer Company enters semiconductor supply chain

Taiwan Fertilizer Company (TFC) celebrated its 80th anniversary with an event attended by President Lai Ching-te and Minister of Agriculture Chen Chun-chi. The company is undergoing a strategic transformation, moving from its traditional role in supporting national food security to becoming a key player in the high-tech supply chain.

A major component of this shift is TFC's entry into the semiconductor industry through the import and supply of internationally certified ‘blue ammonia’. Leveraging its unique domestic advantage of possessing the largest liquid ammonia storage tanks and a dedicated pier, the company provides essential low-carbon materials for high-tech manufacturers. Additionally, TFC is establishing a strategic partnership with a semiconductor giant to set up a waste sulfuric acid recycling facility in the Central Taiwan Science Park.

Regarding its core fertilizer business, TFC spokesperson Zhong Jun-ming noted that losses are expected to decrease significantly, aiming for a reduction of 500 to 600 million TWD compared to last year. This improvement is attributed to stabilized raw material prices, increased government subsidies, and a diversified procurement strategy that has shifted away from mainland Chinese sources toward suppliers in Jordan and Indonesia.
