Taiwan Fisheries Research Institute showcases 26 technological advancements
The Fisheries Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture held a technology demonstration and matchmaking event at the Donggang Aquaculture Research Center in Pingtung. The event showcased 26 research achievements across four key sectors: seed breeding, aquaculture support, smart aquaculture, and aquatic product processing.
Notable innovations include the development of ultra-male (YY) red tilapia, which achieves a male offspring rate of over 95% without hormone use, and seaweed-based products such as coffee and oat bars. Additionally, grape algae preservation technology has demonstrated the ability to extend the room-temperature shelf life of certain products from three days to two months.
During the event, six enterprises and legal entities, including Gula Biotech and the Industrial Technology Research Institute, signed agreements for eight different technologies. These collaborations cover diverse areas such as self-heating oyster shell packs, instant fish fillets, and distributed backup power supplies, aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and industrial application.
