Taiwan Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung Hosts US Congressman Michael McCaul to Boost Taiwan‑US Security Cooperation

Taiwan’s foreign minister Lin Chia-lung welcomed U.S. Representative Michael McCaul, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, to a luncheon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two officials discussed deepening Taiwan‑U.S. security and economic cooperation, including joint research and production to enhance Taiwan’s defence capabilities. Lin emphasized the need to work together with like‑minded partners in third countries to improve regional resilience against China’s growing military pressure. McCaul reiterated bipartisan congressional support for Taiwan, praising ongoing arms sales and the proposed “Taiwan Tower” project in Texas as a symbol of expanding economic ties.

The meeting marked McCaul’s third visit to Taiwan and followed a recent delegation led by Representative Young Kim, underscoring continued U.S. legislative backing for Taiwan’s security and strategic interests in the Indo‑Pacific.
