Taiwan healthcare facilities expand integrated long-term care services

Taiwan is advancing its healthcare infrastructure to address the challenges of an aging society through integrated long-term care and smart medical services.

In Changhua County, a new 620 million TWD comprehensive long-term care and health center has opened in Pitou Township. The seven-story facility integrates medical services, childcare, and elderly care. It features a nursery for 60 infants, a parenting center, a rehabilitation medical center, and residential long-term care facilities with 150 beds. This project aims to support the ‘sandwich generation’ by providing all-age care from infancy to old age.

In Taoyuan, the Ministry of Health and Welfare Taoyuan Hospital is hosting an international symposium focused on ‘Whole-Person Medical Care’ and the ‘Healthy Taiwan’ initiative. The conference explores digital transformation, precision medicine, and green healthcare, featuring experts from the US, UK, and Singapore. Additionally, the hospital has strengthened its discharge planning services under the Long-Term Care 3.0 policy. By assessing patient needs during hospitalization, the hospital coordinates medical equipment, home nursing, and transportation services to ensure a seamless transition from hospital to home, reducing the burden on family caregivers.
