Taiwan healthcare forums focus on NHI sustainability and medical law

Recent healthcare forums in Taiwan have focused on the sustainability of the National Health Insurance (NHI) system and the implementation of the ‘Health Taiwan’ national policy.

The 27th Taiwan Medical Law and Politics Forum in Kaohsiung addressed critical issues regarding NHI self-correction policies and the Medical Accident Prevention and Dispute Resolution Act. Experts from legal, medical, nursing, and pharmaceutical sectors discussed the need for better communication between medical professionals and the judiciary to bridge the gap between policy and clinical practice.

Simultaneously, the ‘Health Taiwan Deep Cultivation Forum’ highlighted the transition from reactive treatment to preventive medicine. Officials emphasized significant budgetary allocations for cancer drug funds, national drug resilience, and long-term care. Discussions also covered the integration of AI in medical diagnosis, remote healthcare, and the management of chronic diseases to support Taiwan’s aging population and ensure the long-term stability of the NHI system.
