Taiwan High Speed Rail to add 718 extra services for election period

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) has announced plans to increase capacity by adding 718 extra services to accommodate commuters and travelers during the election period. To manage the expected surge in passenger volume on November 27, the company will operate additional trains between 17:00 and 20:00.

During this four-hour peak window, two to three trains will depart from Nangang or Taipei every hour heading south toward Taichung, stopping at intermediate stations. These nine additional services will each feature 11 non-reserved seats.

Passengers are advised to use the in-station passenger information display systems to check specific non-reserved seat configurations, as some trains may only offer limited non-reserved carriages. While early bird and student discounts remain available, certain group and membership promotions will not apply during this period.
