Taiwan hosts disability awareness events in Tainan and New Taipei City

Various events were held in Taiwan to promote disability awareness and social inclusion. In Tainan, the Eden Foundation hosted its 13th annual Barrier-Free Living Festival at the Tainan Southville Shopping Center. The event, themed ‘Starting a Dialogue Through Painting,’ featured an interactive exhibition of artworks by individuals with disabilities, flash illustration sessions by ‘one-day painters,’ and a collaborative painting area to encourage social interaction.

In New Taipei City, the government organized the 9th Comprehensive Disability Achievement Exhibition at Civic Plaza. The event featured 60 exhibition booths showcasing products such as handmade crafts, moss balls, and baked goods created by individuals with disabilities. The exhibition included talent performances, including music and drama, as well as adaptive sports experiences like pickleball and floor curling. Officials emphasized the importance of using understanding to eliminate discrimination and promote equality for the nearly 190,000 people with disabilities residing in New Taipei City.
