Taiwan implements new subsidies and digital services for urban renewal
Taiwanese authorities are implementing new measures to facilitate urban renewal projects. The Ministry of the Interior has revised subsidy regulations for the Central Urban Renewal Fund to support communities pursuing independent renewal. Eligible projects can now receive up to 1 million TWD for the establishment of renewal committees and preliminary operations, plus up to 10 million TWD for subsequent business and rights conversion planning, totaling a maximum subsidy of 11 million TWD.
In Taipei City, the Land Administration Bureau and the Urban Renewal Office have formed the ‘Land Administration and Urban Renewal Alliance’ to streamline processes through digital governance. New services include a digital information platform for preliminary assessments, online appointments for land registry documents, and pre-inspection services for building and cadastral lines. These administrative improvements aim to reduce project timelines by several months and minimize disputes regarding land area and property rights.
