Taiwan implements new tourism subsidies and airport fee increases

Starting September 1, several new policies and fee adjustments will take effect in Taiwan. A major domestic tourism subsidy program has launched, offering discounts for stays at legal accommodations on weekdays. Travelers can receive up to 2,000 TWD in subsidies for stays in general areas and up to 2,500 TWD for offshore islands. Additionally, a birthday accommodation subsidy will provide 1,200 TWD to 1,000 selected birthday celebrants monthly.

Travel costs for international departures will increase as the airport service fee rises from 500 TWD to 750 TWD. Airlines are also adjusting fees, with Tigerair Taiwan increasing booking service fees and Starlux Airlines implementing a zone-based excess baggage charging system.

In healthcare, the Ministry of Health and Welfare is increasing subsidies for IVF treatments for women under 45. Other regional updates include increased childcare subsidies in Miaoli County and new medical transportation assistance in Hualien. In transportation, the Sanxia Line in New Taipei City has officially commenced fare-based operations.
