Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Carnival attracts visitors to Shigang and Luye

The 2026 Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Carnival runs from late July through August, featuring events in Taichung’s Shigang District (August 22‑24) and Taitung’s Luye Plateau (July 30 and later dates). In Shigang, the festival includes the debut of a Mazu‑shaped balloon from Taitung, night‑time light sculptures, food markets, and guided tours linking mountain, city and coastal attractions.

At Luye Plateau, a light‑show concert combines hot‑air balloons, drones and fireworks, highlighted by a performance from award‑winning pop group GENBLUE. The event draws tens of thousands of spectators and promotes local tourism, agriculture (notably high‑quality pears in Shigang) and cultural exchange across Taiwan’s regions.
