Taiwan launches Ah Hu Jia You brand to support bobcat conservation
The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency (FNCA) Hsinchu Branch has launched ‘Ah Hu Jia You’ (Go Tiger), a new brand designed to promote eco-friendly agriculture that supports the conservation of the endangered Taiwanese bobcat.
Building upon the existing ‘Eco-friendly Bobcat Farming Certification,’ the new brand aims to increase market visibility and consumer recognition. The initiative encourages farmers to adopt practices that protect bobcat habitats, such as avoiding rodenticides and traps, maintaining natural grass cover, and not keeping domestic pets like dogs or cats in farming areas.
To mark the launch, a market titled ‘Ah Hu Lai Ye’ was held at Taipei Huashan 1914 Creative Park, featuring products from Miaoli farmers, including rice, red dates, camellia oil, vinegar, and honey. The program seeks to connect ecological conservation with daily consumer choices, helping to protect the estimated 500 remaining bobcats primarily located in the hilly regions of Miaoli, Taichung, and Nantou.
