Taiwan launches Health Coin incentive program for medical screenings

Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare has announced the launch of ‘Health Coin,’ a new incentive program starting October 1. Citizens aged 18 and older can accumulate coins by completing specific health-related tasks, such as medical checkups, cancer screenings, and vaccinations.

Under the program, individuals can earn various amounts of coins: 200 coins for the first login to the Health Wallet section of the National Health Insurance Administration’s app, and 100 coins for completing a lifestyle assessment. Specific medical actions yield higher rewards, including 800 coins for adult preventive care or Hepatitis B and C screenings, and between 900 to 1,350 coins for public cancer screenings. Vaccinations also offer rewards, such as 450 coins for influenza, 900 for COVID-19, and 600 for pneumococcal vaccines.

Records are automatically synchronized through the system, so users do not need to save receipts. Starting December 1, accumulated coins can be redeemed for health-related products via the Health Promotion Administration’s ‘Health GO’ app. To encourage early adoption, a promotional period from October 1 to November 30 includes weekly prize draws for digital vouchers and a year-end drawing for Apple Watches for registered users.
