Taiwan launches themed train to promote local industries on Jiji Line
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Taiwan Railway Corporation have launched the ‘Town and Country Flavor Express,’ a themed painted train designed to promote local industries along the Jiji Line. The initiative aims to connect regional culture with railway transportation to boost local economies.
The project focuses on 12 industrial corridors, including bamboo crafts, forestry culture, tea industries, and herbal biotechnology, linking over 50 small and micro-enterprises. The Nantou City-Rural Alliance, which forms the core of this launch, connects 30 businesses across Shuili, Jiji, and Mingjian townships to create a low-carbon tourism network.
To support regional development, the government has planned to increase resources by over 10 billion TWD next year to assist small and medium-sized enterprises and local markets. The themed train carriages will operate on the Jiji Line from August 1 to November 30, offering passengers access to local experience itineraries and discounts via QR codes.
