Taiwan launches year-round hot spring tourism and sustainability initiatives
Taiwan's Tourism Administration has launched the ‘2026-2027 Taiwan Good Hot Springs: Four Seasons Spring Healing’ campaign. The initiative aims to transform hot spring tourism from a winter-only activity into a year-round experience by integrating hot springs with forest hiking, local cuisine, and night economies across 19 major hot spring areas.
In conjunction with these tourism efforts, several regional and medical projects have received recognition at the Asia Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) and the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA). The Nanzhuang Sustainable Mountain Town project, managed by the Sanrui National Scenic Area Administration, won both a bronze award at APSAA and a gold award at TSAA for its efforts in cultural preservation and low-carbon tourism.
In the healthcare sector, several hospitals under the Ministry of Health and Welfare received sustainability awards. Notably, Taoyuan Psychiatric Hospital won a gold award for its ‘5S Safety Net’ program, which focuses on providing continuous mental health support for high-risk children and adolescents.
