Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture launches mobile food truck to promote local produce

The Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture has launched new initiatives to promote local, seasonal, and convenient food products. On September 6, the ministry introduced the ‘Taiwan Fengwei’ mobile food truck, which will tour major locations across the country for one year, including national highway rest areas, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and various farmers' markets.

The mobile food truck aims to connect consumers directly with seasonal agricultural and fishery products. The initial rollout features items such as bananas, eel, and small squid. Minister Chen Chun-chi stated the goal is to encourage citizens to eat locally and seasonally by ensuring products are visible, accessible, and ready to consume.

In conjunction with these efforts, the Agriculture and Food Agency held an exhibition at Taipei's Hope Plaza to promote frozen and ready-to-use vegetables. The event focused on addressing the needs of busy modern households by demonstrating how frozen and pre-cut vegetables can be easily integrated into daily meals. The exhibition included cooking demonstrations by culinary experts and promoted domestic honey and bee products to support the local apiculture industry.
