Taiwan monitors surge in Chinese aircraft and naval incursions

On July 10, 2026 Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence said it detected two People’s Liberation Army aircraft, five PLA Navy vessels and three official ships operating around the island. Three of the aircraft crossed the median line into Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone.

The ministry noted that the previous day, Tuesday, it had tracked four aircraft (three crossing the median line), nine naval vessels and three official ships in the same area, indicating a pattern of multi‑day incursions.

On July 11, the ministry reported the presence of one PLAN vessel and one official ship around Taiwan’s territorial waters, and confirmed that no Chinese aircraft were observed that day. In each instance the ROC armed forces monitored the activity and responded as required.
