Taiwan music festivals prompt traffic controls and congestion management
Major music festivals in Taiwan are prompting significant traffic management efforts. The 2026 Lukang Music Festival is scheduled to take place from October 16 to 18 at the Lukang Town Stadium and surrounding areas. To ensure safety, authorities will implement traffic controls on Jianguo Road from October 15 at 8:00 PM through October 18 at midnight. Certain sections of Jianguo Road will be closed to general vehicles, while other segments will be designated as motorcycle parking zones.
In Kaohsiung, the conclusion of the Kaohsiung Park Music Festival on October 10 saw significant traffic congestion. As thousands of attendees departed, a surge in vehicles caused a backup reaching the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. The congestion was attributed to long traffic light wait times at the intersection of Chenggong 2nd Road and Zhike Road. Local police, including the Qianzhen District Chief, intervened to manually direct traffic and alleviate the bottleneck.
