Taiwan National Park authorities to fine film crew for illegal activities
The Taroko National Park Administration has announced it will take legal action against a film production crew, including a South Korean female artist, following reports of illegal activities at Wuling in the Hehuanshan area.
On October 4, officers from the Ninth Brigade of the Seventh Police Corps discovered the crew cooking inside a vehicle at the Wuling parking lot. Authorities clarified that parking lots are not designated areas for camping or cooking; cooking or camping in non-designated zones is a violation of National Park regulations, regardless of whether open flames are used or if the cooking occurs inside a vehicle.
Additionally, video footage showed crew members climbing rock walls. The administration stated that climbing rocks and entering non-open mountain paths violates the National Park Act, as these actions can damage fragile high-altitude vegetation and risk hikers getting lost. Under Article 13, Paragraph 8 of the National Park Act, violators may face fines of up to NT$3,000. The administration urged all visitors to follow ‘Leave No Trace’ principles to protect the ecosystem and wildlife habitats.
