Hong Kong police bust drug-laden car with 56 marijuana packages before World Cup final

Hong Kong police stopped a private vehicle in Kwai Chung early on the morning of the World Cup final. During the check, officers discovered a baby safety seat containing 56 small bags of suspected marijuana, along with cannabis‑infused products and six packets of suspected cocaine. The 38‑year‑old driver was arrested on charges of drug‑impaired driving, possession of dangerous drugs and drug trafficking. He also faced a charge for driving with an expired licence. A drug‑sniffing dog was deployed to complete the search, and the seized narcotics are being valued pending further assessment.

The police said the suspect intended to deliver the drugs to bars in the Kwai Chung area to profit from the large gathering of fans watching the final match.
