Taiwan police arrest two more accomplices in Chang Chun-chieh escape case

Authorities in Taiwan have arrested two more accomplices in connection with the escape of Chang Chun-chieh, a man who fled after being released on 10 million TWD bail. The two new detainees include a 23-year-old man accused of driving Chang during his flight and a woman suspected of assisting in the destruction of his electronic monitoring bracelet.

Investigators have identified a coordinated network of at least seven individuals who assisted Chang as he traveled through various regions, including Yunlin, Tainan, Chiayi, and Kaohsiung. The escape follows allegations that Chang was involved in cases regarding the fraudulent collection of subsidies and assistant fees, for which he faced a potential sentence of over 16 years.

Questions have been raised regarding the potential involvement of external forces, as Chang is also accused of receiving significant funds from China to develop organizations within Taiwan. While Chang remains at large, police believe he may still be hiding in southern Taiwan.
