Taiwan police assist elderly citizens in multiple rescue operations

Police in Taiwan have successfully assisted several elderly individuals in various emergency situations involving wandering, illness, or injury.

In Taipei, a Wenshan First Precinct officer discovered an elderly man sitting at a busy intersection near the Taipei Zoo. The man appeared exhausted and unable to clearly communicate his identity. After cross-referencing data, police identified him as a missing person and coordinated with medical staff and his family to ensure his safe return.

In Taoyuan, a 78-year-old man with dementia wandered many kilometers from his home in Zhongli, eventually reaching the border of Taoyuan and Hsinchu. Through surveillance footage and cross-jurisdictional cooperation between the Zhongli and Yangmei precincts, police located him near Zhongshan South Road. He was found to be physically stable despite minor sunburn.

Additionally, officers from the Zhongli Precinct responded to a report of an elderly man who had fallen while walking in a park. The 75-year-old man was unable to get up due to pain. Police provided medical assistance and notified his cohabitants, ensuring he was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

Local authorities are urging families to ensure elderly members carry identification, contact information, or wear GPS tracking devices to facilitate rapid assistance in the future.
