Taiwan police launch school safety operations for new semester

As the new school semester begins in Taiwan, police departments across various regions have launched specialized safety operations to protect students during their commutes.

In Chiayi City, the police have activated a 'Child Protection Project,' coordinating with schools, volunteers, and parent associations to manage traffic at busy intersections and school zones. Similarly, in New Taipei City, authorities have upgraded their patrols to focus on traffic guidance and the enforcement of regulations, such as yielding to pedestrians. This initiative also coincides with the rollout of free nutrition lunch policies for elementary and junior high students.

In Taoyuan's Pingzhen District, police have deployed personnel to key intersections and school routes to manage increased vehicle flow and prevent accidents. Authorities in Chiayi County have also conducted on-site inspections to monitor traffic conditions and ensure student safety during peak morning hours. Across these regions, officials are urging drivers to slow down and yield to pedestrians, while reminding students to remain focused and avoid using mobile phones while crossing streets.
