Taiwan police launch youth safety camps in Taichung and Kaohsiung

The Taichung City Police Bureau held a "Little Police" summer experience camp on 19 July 2024, selecting 192 children from nearly 4,000 applicants. The six‑stage program taught anti‑drug, anti‑fraud, traffic safety, women‑child safety, forensic basics and police equipment use through games and interactive scenarios. Demonstrations by the special‑operations unit and a police‑dog team highlighted police work and attracted strong public interest.

In Kaohsiung, the Police Youth Team partnered with the Youth Welfare Committee to start a six‑month "Youth Representative Empowerment Program" on 15 July 2024. The initiative targets 12‑ to 18‑year‑olds, using drama, media‑literacy workshops and digital video creation to address anti‑drug, anti‑fraud and public‑policy topics. Participants will develop and present proposals on community safety, mental health and civic engagement, aiming to turn youths into informed contributors to public policy.

Both programs aim to foster law‑abiding behaviour, improve safety awareness and encourage civic participation among Taiwan’s younger generation.
