Taiwan police seize billions in anti‑fraud and drug crackdown across Taichung and Taoyuan

The Taichung City Police Department was awarded the national “Special Excellence” prize for its anti‑fraud efforts, recording a sixth consecutive win. In the most recent period the force seized approximately NT$1.4 billion in illicit funds, disrupted 700 fraud cases, and arrested 5,559 suspects, while fraud reports and losses fell 14% and 36% respectively compared with the previous year.

In Taoyuan City, police conducted a sweeping operation during April‑June, handling more than 14,000 criminal cases. The crackdown resulted in the seizure of roughly 33 tonnes of various drugs and the confiscation of about NT$13.2 million in illegal proceeds, alongside arrests of dozens of gang members, firearms, and fraud suspects. Both cities emphasized a zero‑tolerance stance on organized crime, drug trafficking, illegal firearms, and financial fraud.
