Taiwan police seize illicit drugs and firearms in Taipei and New Taipei operations
Police in Taipei stopped a 33‑year‑old man, Liu, after a dispute and, when he resisted, a "zombie" smoke grenade fell from his pocket. Officers seized three依托咪酯 (synthetic) smoke grenades and three packets of amphetamine, arresting Liu on drug‑related charges.
In a separate joint operation by New Taipei and Taoyuan police, a gang member identified as Lin, who was traveling with his pregnant wife, surrendered after officers warned they would protect the wife and fetus. A search of his car uncovered a modified shotgun, three handguns, 11 shotgun shells, 57 pistol rounds and a 50.3‑gram packet of the same synthetic drug,依托咪酯. Lin was charged under gun‑control and drug‑hazard statutes.
