Taiwan Politicians Clash Over Council Assault and Toxic Oil Controversy

City councilor Chen Yu‑rong alleged that two male legislators elbowed her during a protest in the Taichung City Council on 27 March, prompting her to call for disciplinary action and to consider filing a sexual harassment complaint. She demanded public apologies from the men and from all female council members.

KMT chairperson Zheng Li‑wen visited Yunlin County on 30 March to attend a women’s leadership camp, where she criticised the DPP government for failing to remove allegedly toxic cooking oil, accusing the administration of endangering public health and shifting blame to local officials. Zheng urged continued support for KMT candidates in upcoming local elections.
