Taiwan promotes cultural-ecological integration through museum expansion and award-winning nature films

Taiwan's Ministry of Culture is advancing its ‘Thousand Miles of Cultural Forest’ initiative, aiming to connect cultural sites with ecology and sports. A key component is the second phase of the National Museum of Taiwan History project, which will integrate the museum with the Asia-Pacific International Baseball Training Center, the Shan-Hai-Zhen National Green Road, and Taijiang National Park. The project plans to include a lake-side trail and the planting of 1,000 native trees across a 50-hectare area to create a multifunctional living space.

In related ecological news, the documentary ‘Song of Life’ (共譜生命之歌), produced by the Chiayi Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, won the Silver Award for Ecological Response at the 2026 SILKFEST film festival in Serbia. The film highlights the biodiversity of the Aogu Wetland Forest Park in Chiayi, showcasing its diverse flora and fauna, including migratory birds and local wildlife, to promote international awareness of wetland conservation.
